A word about "Free" Consultations.

Many trainers offer a "Free Consultation" as a way to get you interested in their services. During this free time, a trainer will usually take information from you, ask a lot of questions about your dog, or possibly visit and "evaluate" your dog, which is generally just telling you how
much you could benefit from
his or her training service.

My time and knowledge is valuable.
So, while I will give you free time
on the phone, getting your
information and asking you questions, my advice typically isn't free.

Remember, you get what you pay for!

If you are not sure that you want to invest in a full package, you can
"Test Drive" my services with an In-your-home, 1-hour consult.

During this time, you will get an honest evaluation of your dog, a few handouts,
and you will get some useful
advice to try out.

The cost for a mini lesson is $100

$50 will be credited to a 4-Hour Class or Behavioral Consult if you decide to invest in further training.

A Travel Charge of $.50 per mile (each way) will be added to destinations farther than 25 miles from my home. I use Mapquest to calculate. You can check the mileage yourself - my address is
411 Chandler Rd. Pelzer, SC 29669

Need help choosing the right dog trainer?
Training methods vary widely from trainers who employ only positive to trainers who use methods that are cruel and dangerous to you and your dog.

Your job is to be an informed consumer and an advocate for your dog. If you feel that a trainer is doing something to your dog that you do not feel comfortable with, WALK AWAY!

To find out more about how to choose a trainer and method of training that suits you and your dog, go to;

When choosing a trainer to help you with behavior issues, especially any type of aggression, you should ask what type of methods the trainer will use. Scientific study of canine behavior has shown that using punishment or suppression techniques can and do backfire - see the U of PA study -  often causing the dog to become more aggressive over time. And while many "old school" trainers dismiss using food as bribery, veterinary behaviorists will tell you that it is imperative to use positive methods, especially high value food treats, to help change your dog's perception of the "bad" things that cause him or her to react aggressively.
