The Puppy Nanny's Cabins
Our Guest House for Your Dog

We are Sue and Paul Conklin, the owners of The Puppy Nanny’s Cabins. We have both owned dogs all of our lives. Sue, also known as The Puppy Nanny has been a dog trainer for over a decade. We currently live with 4 dogs, all rescues.

We came up with the idea for The Cabins because our own dog Lucky hates boarding kennels. We haven’t taken a vacation in years because the last time we left Lucky at a (very nice) kennel, he wouldn’t eat and howled almost non-stop for 4 days. We cut our trip short because we felt so bad for him.

Our goal is to provide a relaxing, happy environment for our visitors. We are not a cookie cutter boarding facility. Each dog’s stay is structured to provide the best experience for that dog.

Please note: Due to a Hawk problem in the area, we are no longer boarding any dogs that weigh less than 20 lbs. unless accompanied by a larger family dog.

Boarding is always stressful for your pet,

but with Sue’s years of dog behavior experience,

we have set up The Cabins so your dog’s stay will be as stress free as possible.

The Cabins are a different approach to boarding.

Each dog (or family of dogs) has his or her own cabin.

The cabins are 8’x8’ or 6’x8’ with a private deck and yard.

Separate cabins and yards reduce the stress of boarding as dogs do not

have to share sleeping and eating space with unknown neighbors.

  • Each cabin has its own heat and air so temperatures can be set for the comfort of the individual pet.
  • Each cabin has a radio and a DAP (dog appeasing pheramone) diffuser to help reduce stress.
  • Each cabin has its own 180sf. yard.
  • During the day, your dog will have free access his/her own private yard. At night all dogs will be closed in their cabin for safety.
  • We live on the premises, so the “kennel staff” will not leave at night. There will be a bedtime check for all dogs at 9 PM.
  • Social dogs that get along well with others can enjoy a supervised group play time in our large fully fenced play yard.

Rates: $40.00 per day

Second Dog/same family: $20.00

Third or 4th dog same family: $10.00 ea.

After 5 days receive 20% off

We not charge for extras: Playtimes, special feeding instructions, special treats, or giving oral medications are all included in the daily boarding rate.

Guests at the cabins are treated to Tail Waggerz all natural cookies. Whole wheat and wheat free versions are available.

For more information, go to the Tail Waggerz site; www.tailwaggerzbarkery.com

The Puppy Nanny’s Cabins are not the right option for all dogs. We don’t have six foot chain link, our runs and yards are not concrete pads, and do not have tops on them. If your dog is a climber, a digger, or is destructive, The Cabins will not be a good choice for your dog. We reserve the right to refuse any dog that we feel will be at risk of escape, destructive, dogs that are aggressive to people, or non-stop obsessive barkers.

The Cabins are located

  Boarding Requirements

 1. All dogs will bring their own food. We know that staying on a familiar diet helps to reduce stomach upsets. To prevent infestations of ants, mice and other pests, all food must be contained in a hard-sided container with a lid (Rubbermaid, Tupperware, etc.)

 2. To insure the safety of your pet, all dogs must wear a plain, flat collar of nylon or leather. No choke chains, no martingales, and no harnesses. We encourage you to have a current ID tag on your dog’s collar.

 3. Dogs must be current on rabies and distemper (both one year and three year vaccinations are acceptable), and have had bordetella within the last six months. Rabies, distemper and parvo titer tests will be accepted. Vaccinations must be administered by a veterinarian.

 4. You may bring all the beds, blankies, toys, and treats that your dog desires!  There is plenty of room. Please put your pet’s name on everything. The Puppy Nanny’s Cabins will not be held responsible for damaged bedding material or lost items. We do encourage you to bring an old t-shirt or towel with your scent on it for your dog to sleep with.

 5. All drop offs and pick ups are by appointment only. You may make an appointment between 7:30am and 7:30pm Monday through Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm on Saturday, and Noon6:00 PM on Sunday. There are no drop offs or pick ups on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, or Christmas.
